MYST CARNIVAL BAND LAUNCH WEEKEND 2017
FRIDAY: The Premiere
Now being the trendsetters that Myst is, they decided to celebrate their 10th Year as a Band by doing their launch just a tad different.
Not only were they gonna launch it via their social media but also the day before it was announced that their was going to be a special Red Carpet Event at the Caribbean Cinemas.
Red Carpet? at Caribbean Cinemas?
Wah story dis be really? I’m pretty sure everyone was as excited but still confused as I was when the information finally dropped.
HOWEVER! I also saw “Dress Mystically Elegant” and I was went online looking up red carpet outfit inspiration like:
Y’all was not about to catch me slipping like Madam Duct Tape
So of course, bad man haffi get he frock sorted.
That was the first step, so as per usual, I met up with Anya (Annie Mcfierce for you guys) to discuss the outfit.
We decided that we were going to complement each other via outfits WITHOUT walking in looking like this:
Days passed and we got our outfits sorted and such, so we were READY To Shell.
The day of the event was finally upon us and it was preparation time.
Early up in the day we had some last minute stuff to do and ended up picking up lunch at One Stone Ital Shack. I lowkey forgot for a bit that it was a vegetarian type place so that means no meat even when I was ordering Roti.
So, Instead of Chicken I realize I got Chunks.
NOW…..Fun fact: Chunks and me don’t really agree and I really wasn’t planning to be too “Lit” in Caribbean Cinemas via Various Gasses.
So I only ate like half of it and left the rest in the fridge, then went by Anya to get ready.
For ONCE, we actually got ready on time, by 7:45pm we were out the house and on our way to the event.
We arrived at 8:11 and the parking lot was PACKED.
The last time I saw that many cars at Caribbean Cinemas it was the Premiere of Fast 7…and to think we thought we were going to be the first persons there.
So we then parked up and it was time to exit the vehicle but lo and behold, Satan showed up via Anya’s Heel’s.
The back of one of the heel’s wasn’t zipping up so she asked me to help.
I’m there trying to zip up the heel like:
After a good 7 minutes, we finally got it up and was ready to walk the red carpet.
The entrance was very “Caucasian”, Very Posh.
Lit with Blue lights and Long Red Carpet it screamed High Society.
Anya was walking next to me like:
While I’m here tryna keep up like:
Took our Carpet Photo
Then we were asked for an interview and I felt so official like:
After that was done, we met up with Amaya and Linisa then walked upstairs to the cocktail area, which had too many humans but was a good vibe until the movie.
I was really surprised at how much folks actually went out to buy or acquire some really elegant outfits.
I was like:
I saw some bredda mans walk in wearing Jeans and Tshirt
YOU HAD ONEEEE JOBBBBBBB
Ladies and Gentlemen, be good to your friends. If you see them wearing something that isn’t appealing to their body type, please tell unto them to “tek it ahf”. They’ll hate you for a bit but at least they’ll appreciate you afterwards.
Cause I saw the “classy” version of Madam Duct Tape and I was like…bruh.
I really can’t afford to go into the “hit and misses” at the red carpet because I ain’t able I walking down the road and ..
SO about the movie..
I personally found that the movie “10 Years a Mystic” was very well put together, humorous and nostalgic. As it highlighted Year 1 – 9 mas with Myst Carnival and also had relatable points on things most folks think about before picking a costume.
However! When Ibis was in the therapy chair and said on screen “He don’t wanna go Insane”
That line def caused a uproar of laughter that I’m sure Caribbean Cinemas never heard before.
I don’t wanna get to much into it as their might be a second viewing soon so I don’t wanna ruin to movie for you guys haha.
But you can look forward to see folks such as:
- Nicole Folss
- Ricardo Drue and much more.
After the movie, the theme for Myst 10 was finally revealed on screen:
Then a short clip for each section would play on screen then you’d actually see it in person after.
The Sections are:
- and the Two Nava Sections – Tidal and Nyira
My only issue with the revealing aspect was that it was a bit long and could have been a cut a little shorter for each section.
Otherwise it was a great experience.
SATURDAY : Press Conference/Social Media Launch
Waking up for the press/ social media launch was a struggle, especially because of the other night.
But then I remembered that food was there and I was like:
I won’t go too much into detail about this as it was basically just a formal opening of the Myst 10 Year and the Team being together to finally launch the photos via Social Media.
P.s – I taught the team the way of the Caucasian.
Sunday : Beach Crawl
So the Sunday, was Beach Crawl Sunday!
As for usual times where it would have been numerous stops, for this one it was only one as it was just a celebratory Lime to close of the opening week of the launch.
We had already decided to pass through at Terri-ann’s Once a Month Mimosas and Chill, first (which was so good btw) then pass through to the crawl.
When we arrived around 7:30 so it was still packed with folks and the Vibes was just there.
Being that we got there a bit late, I don’t have toooo much to say about this but from what I experienced between that time and 10pm it was a good vibe.
Ever since I’ve been back from Barbados from during my Catch Flights not Feelings Tour we’ve had a new appreciation for Bashment Soca.
So when that came on, Me and Anya was like:
BUT I have this song that I been in love with for a bit called “Freaky Girls”
ALLLLLL I gotta hear is “YOU OH OH OH OHHHHH WAMP TO DEM”
Cause by the time “Bring Ya Bumpa, GIMME….” Strikes up I’m already like:
After a bunch of dancing it was time for a bathroom break so we’re walking to the bathroom and this guy comes up to Anya
…hitting on her as per usual:
and then looking at me to see if I’d say anything like:
and I’d always be looking back like:
So pardna turning to me goes and say when he sees a young lady looking good he has to say something
Meanwhile she’s standing right there hearing everything enuh.
She says thanks etc, then he goes and say, if he can ask for her number
Other than that joke clearly, it was a good evening.
I’m definitely looking forward to a very MYSTically InTENse Season with the Myst Family.
NB: Pure is next week Sunday!! Check out my Kidview from Last Year here. “Pure”
Till then, Stay Dope!
