OUT IN THE STREETS
THEY CALL IT
WELCOME TO JAMROCK!
Got another Review geared up for ya!
It’s alll about “Antigua’s Sailing Week: Reggae in the Park”
So without the extra long talking, lets get into it!
Reggae in the Park
Now let me say, when I saw this flyer I KNEW I had to go.
DAMIAN JR GONG MARLEY?!
If it’s one artist I KNOW can really perform live its him, so clearly there was no if’s or but’s about it…..ME DEYA GO FA SEE JR GONG.
I honestly didn’t have any big outfit planned for this as it was a weekday and a real chill vibe so my outfit consisted of:
- Long Sleeve Black SweatShirt – VC&J Heritage Quay
- 3/4 Cut off foot Black Jeans – Asos.com
- Imitation Yeezy’s (Any Syrian/Chinese store in town)
So the evening came and we (Anya and I ) ended up going a little late being that we had work and such earlier.
The actual event started at 6pm but we Ended up leaving home like about 8:15pm.
Now before we left, I had a look on Facebook and Instagram and noticed that folks was already posting pictures at the venue (Nelson’s Dockyard) from since around 4pm.
I was just wondering like…. do they have the Key to open Nelson’s Dockyard or something? Cause they rather early 😐
Anyways, so we left around 8 :15 as I said before and at 8:47pm we arrived at Horsford Hill and this is what we saw…
I already made up my mind that we’d end up reaching to see Damian Marley say “Thank you! “
Mannn, I was just felt so stressed.
We was in the line like:
After 84 Years…
well realstically 45 minutes… we arrived at the shuttle port, so we parked, got out and went into the shuttle.
Now we’re in the shuttle for a good 10 minutes in the same line, we notice the shuttle driver goes on this mysterious phone call like:
and he goes…”I just need a little way to get in”
So we’re here looking at each other like:
2 minutes later we start hearing some police sirens in the background, so now I’m like oh lord what accident happen now.
The police pasts us in full speed and then next thing we know the bus driver is swerving out the line behind the police car..
It was clear that they knew we were on the bus and sent the caucasians to get us, so we was just on the bus chilling like:
*laughs in caucasian*
At 10:06 we was finally at the venue.
Met up with Sequoyah and Lauvin all the way infront and at that point Ibis the Livest was on doing his thing, which is keeping the crowd Liveeeee while DJ Tanny was playing some great tunes.
Next up was my love, Asher Otto.
Who delivered such a great performance! While being super gorgeous.
She covered some great songs like:
- Sia – Cheap Thrills
- Bruno Mars- Uptown Funk
and even her new single ” I don’t know”
After her performance we had a little Break where the DJ Played some Old Reggae songs which had me like:
(me in the red)
During this and they announced “Who’s ready for Damian Marley?!” Couple minutes later we see this girl being held up by 2 guys like:
Imagine, Damian ain’t come out yet and folks already fainting….Yikes.
There was one more intermission before Damian, some guy name “Black Kamal’ apparently he said he was representing for the ghetto yutes..
After that it was SHOWTIME!
Damian Marley walked out and all the girls was like:
Damian Marley’s energy is like a bolt of Reggae Lightening.
I’m not the BIGGEST Reggae fan but my gun fingers was WAYYY up like:
I lowkey wanna apply to be a flag man for Damian Marley tbh,
Kept wondering if he wasn’t gonna get tired. His life is goals tbh, fly around to wave a flag while Damian Marley Perform??
Damian sang hit songs like Beautiful, Affairs of the Heart, Patience and a bunch of others.
His back up singers had me feeling the reggae spirit with their melodious voices. I swear one of them was catching a praise break up there during “Move!”
She was like:
Before he sang his recent song “Medication” and he started listing the benefits of Marijuana like:
The rastafarians in the back was like:
Then when he said he was in the studio with Bruno Mars and Bruno was saying how he’s so stressed about the world and then Damian told him he need to get some Antigua Marijuana.
The whole crowd was like:
Mannn, everyone was just into his performance like it was bible study. We were so far up in the stage that his locs could slap me and he ain’t even gotta say sorry. #BLESSED.
He closed off with “Welcome to Jamrock” and the whole crowd just spazzed out, honestly if you missed this then you missed something GREAT.
Oh! AND AFTER how can I forget the best part?
We went behind to go and hail a friend and was also watching folks take photos with Damian and Damian saw me and Anya, pulled my hand, hugged us and this happened.
A night to remember !
Now! Lets all go out to Dickenson Bay Tomorrow from 2pm for the Official Antigua Sailing Week Beach Bash!
See everyone there!
Till Then, Stay Dope!!
